Amputee Blade Runners (ABR) is coming to Naz!

Amputee Blade Runners (ABR), a non-profit organization that helps provide free running prosthetics for amputees, is partnering with Naz PT and will be on campus on March 5th! Based out of Nashville, TN, this organization helps amputees keep an active lifestyle by providing this vital equipment free of charge. Health insurance companies have declared running prosthetics as “not medically necessary” and do not cover their cost. Their goal is to provide a running prosthesis to one athlete in all 50 states.

ABR will be presenting surgical techniques and options, post-op and compression protocols, the prosthesis fitting process, and well as discussing common amputee problems to our Naz PT students. They will host a lab for students to practice desensitization techniques, with demonstration, stool stepping using bent knee walkers, proprioception training with clients, and core training techniques. Advanced gait training exercises will also be presented to our students and faculty.
