New Study Abroad Opportunity for PT students in France
Nazareth
College and the IFPEK Institute in Rennes France have signed an agreement to
offer international clinical education opportunities to physical therapy
students.
Mary
Ellen Vore, Interim Chair of the Physical Therapy Program, visited IFPEK
Institute in March 2015 to meet with faculty and administrators of the college,
tour local clinics, and discuss how to make this exciting idea into a reality
for our students.

A
French delegation, including the Eric Beaty U.S. Consulate for Western France, the Deputy
Mayor of Rennes Jocelyn Bougeard, and Martial Delaire the Director of the PT program at IFPEK visited Rochester from July 22-28. During their time at Nazareth, a formal
agreement was signed to allow students an additional international clinical
education opportunity. The group met
with Daan Braveman, Mary Ellen Vore, PT faculty, and toured the facilities in
the Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute (WRI)
to learn about our program.
This
agreement allows Nazareth graduate PT students proficient in French to complete
a full time clinical education placement in Rennes France. Additionally, French students can come to
Rochester and complete a full time clinical placement in an off-campus full time
clinical education experience or in our on-campus clinics. Mary Ellen Vore stated, “This collaboration between
IFPEK and Naz is a great opportunity for PT students to experience the
profession of physical therapy and health care system of another country.”
