Partnering During PT School

Congratulations to Nicole Bansbach '21,'23G for receiving the 2021 Partners for Learning Award

Nicole started in the program as a tutor and mentor, working with elementary students at the Lewis Street YMCA. A transformative presence from the start, Nicole was often approached by the YMCA to support their youth development goals both during the academic semester and over the summer months. There she provided tutoring and youth development services. Her work supported the academic development of the youth and served to heighten the student’s educational aspirations by exploring college access through mentored events. Nicole developed very strong connections with the students and staff. Her ability to build collaborative relationships with students, teachers, and staff were of great benefit to PFL as she took on a Site Coordinator role with Hope Hall and then supported the development of a new partnership with Nativity Preparatory Academy. Her insights into youth development guided our college students as they learned to engage with our community.

Nicole’s success as a tutor and mentor qualified her for additional leadership opportunities within Partners for Learning. For the past two years she has served as the Student Coordinator for the program. In this role she partnered with three other student leaders to provide administration for the entire program, supporting the work of nearly 60 Nazareth students at our 6 community sites. She consistently reinforces the program’s commitment to promote equitable education. As colleagues we respect her work and her advisement. We are thankful for her contributions to our community.

Congratulations Nicole!
